Exciting opportunity available for an experienced finance professional to join a leading energy company in Aberdeen as Senior Business Analyst. This new position sits within a high-performing Finance Team and offers the opportunity to play a role in supporting performance across decommissioning activities in the North Sea.

     

As a Senior Business Analyst, you will act as a trusted partner to Operational and Commercial Teams, delivering robust financial insight, supporting decision-making, and driving efficiency through accurate reporting, budgeting, and forecasting.

       

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leading the preparation and review of budgets and monthly forecasts, ensuring business assumptions accurately reflect operational and decommissioning activities.
  • Working closely with Decommissioning and Operational Teams to understand key cost drivers, contractual obligations, and planned activity, validating assumptions and ensuring consistency in reporting.
  • Taking ownership of the North Sea engineering forecast, ensuring inputs from engineers are captured, challenged, and reflected accurately.
  • Providing timely financial insights to management, highlighting key issues, trends, and variances against budget and prior forecasts.
  • Tracking vessel campaigns daily, monitoring threats to estimated final costs (EFC), and ensuring associated costs are forecasted and reported accurately.
  • Managing VOWD and accrual processes to ensure monthly reporting is accurate and representative of underlying activity.
  • Maintaining awareness of commercial arrangements and ensuring these are appropriately reflected in budgets, forecasts, and plans.
  • Processing and coding invoices where required to ensure accurate cost capture in the forecasting cycle.
  • Contributing to corporate reporting and governance processes with clear explanations of cost movements and operational drivers.
  • Supporting continuous improvement of financial systems, processes, and reporting standards.
  • Providing leadership, guidance, and mentoring to junior team members, fostering a collaborative and high-performing culture.
  • Supporting the annual budget cycle and ongoing plan updates.

           

About You: 

You’ll bring a strong analytical mindset, excellent communication skills, and the confidence to challenge and influence at all levels. With significant experience in the oil and gas sector you’ll have a deep understanding of operational drivers and commercial arrangements within the industry.

         

You’ll also offer: 

  • Proven experience in financial analysis, planning, or business support within a complex operational environment.
  • Advanced Excel skills, with the ability to interpret and present data effectively.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to meet tight deadlines.
  • Ideally, a recognised professional accountancy qualification (CA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent).
