Currently recruiting for an experienced Senior Inspection Engineer on a contract basis for an E&P company based in Westhill, Aberdeenshire. It is a core ongoing contract position that will be eligible for annual renewal so it will be a long-term opportunity. The company are only considering PAYE contractors for this particular role and hybrid working opportunities will be available.

            

The Senior Inspection Engineer will be in charge of providing technical / engineering advice and support to maintenance and inspection activities in structural and civil engineering.  The FPSO is a late life asset, therefore, there is an emphasis on ensuring the ongoing integrity of the asset.

                  

The Senior Inspection Engineer will have the following main duties and responsibilities:

  • Providing technical leadership to a team of Inspection Engineers onshore and offshore, with responsibility for providing work direction and technical guidance, checking work / project progress, identifying key inspection competencies, setting priorities and time schedule.
  • Ensuring that all inspection reports are properly validated by Onshore Inspection Team.
  • Supporting and providing relevant justification for derogation or deferral requests.
  • Providing specialist technical / engineering advice and guidance to site / offshore personnel on the operation, maintenance and inspection of plant / equipment. Ensuring highest safety standards, a timely response to queries and minimal disruption to operations.
  • Encouraging the reporting of all incidents, ensuring that incidents are investigated and action incident close-outs as appropriate.
  • Conducting ad-hoc technical surveys on site / offshore and at vendor / repair locations. Providing detailed technical reports, identifying problems and solutions and ensuring optimum performance from contractors.
  • Ensuring all relevant inspection procedures and documentation are maintained in an accurate and current status and are available on request.
  • Preparing / reviewing scopes of work and economic justification for modifications, ensuring they are correctly engineered, documented and reported, and that all inspection activities / modifications are implemented in accordance with statutory / company standards and correctly closed-out.
  • Preparing / reviewing scopes of work or work packs for vendor services, ensure their quality / exhaustivity. Making recommendations on preferred contractors and co-ordinating vendors, materials and equipment for planned and unplanned activities.  Monitoring and controlling manpower usage, vendor / contractor performance and expenditure.  Leading, as appropriate, in vendor / contractor audits.
  • Undertaking in-depth analysis / studies of problems and recommend longer-term solutions and / or options and make recommendations to line management for approval.
  • Ensuring that all activities are carried out in a safe and effective manner.
  • Contributing to the development of plant / equipment monitoring tools and strategies.
  • Contributing to the development of strategies for the inspection and operation of plant / equipment to ensure that all plant and equipment meets verification and compliance requirements.
  • Ensuring that inspection activities are appropriately prioritised within operations maintenance plans.
  • Technical assessment of planned inspection change requests and technical justification deferrals of CAT A maintenance / inspection PMs.
  • Applying LEAN process to optimise inspection in accordance with the company minimum maintenance guidelines (OPSFORM300).

               

Experience / Qualifications:

  • A relevant engineering degree qualification would be preferred.
  • Applicants should hold relevant inspection qualifications, such as CSWIP / Plant Inspection Level 3.2.
  • Previous experience in a similar onshore-based Senior Inspection Engineer type role, directly within the North Sea oil and gas industry, is essential.
  • Previous experience in a similar role, directly with an E&P company / operator, would be preferred.
  • Previous offshore / site experience is essential.
  • Applicants should have significant knowledge of offshore / terminal plant and associated process, equipment and technologies.
