A leading international services business within the energy sector is looking to appoint a Senior Project Accountant to join their Aberdeen based team. This role offers the opportunity to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, providing commercial and financial support across a diverse portfolio of complex projects.

   

The Role:

The Senior Project Accountant will be responsible for delivering accurate financial reporting and providing commercial guidance to project teams, ensuring compliance with contractual requirements while optimising financial performance. This is a key role offering broad exposure, working closely with both internal stakeholders and external clients.

        

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing support and guidance to project teams on financial and contractual matters.
  • Acting as the main commercial contact for client representatives, attending meetings and preparing monthly reports.
  • Monitoring financial performance, preparing monthly management accounts, forecasts, and budgets.
  • Delivering timely commercial analysis and ensure reporting deadlines are met.
  • Supporting Operations Managers and budget holders in preparing annual budgets, business plans, and incentive schemes.
  • Reviewing and validating invoices, ensuring timely approval and submission to clients.
  • Tracking and resolving debtor issues to optimise cash collection.
  • Identifying opportunities for revenue growth, cost efficiency, and improved margins.
  • Ensuring compliance with internal financial processes, corporate accounting requirements, and commercial controls.
  • Monitoring KPI performance and highlight areas for improvement.

        

The Ideal Applicant:

  • Degree qualified in Finance, Accountancy, Business, or part-qualified accountant.
  • Strong experience in budgeting, forecasting, cost reporting, and monthly accounts.
  • Knowledge of contractual documentation and commercial terms.
  • Advanced Excel and ERP systems experience.
  • Proactive, detail-oriented, and able to work effectively under pressure and to deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to build collaborative relationships.
