Currently recruiting for an experienced Senior Reservoir Engineer on a permanent staff basis for an E&P company based in central Aberdeen.

     

The Senior Reservoir Engineer will be responsible for constructing and maintaining appropriate reservoir models, as well as integrating geoscience interpretations to assess static properties.  The post holder will identify and evaluate options for enhancing production and optimising recovery, while managing reservoir engineering studies conducted by third-party contractors and vendors.  Additionally, they will guide Reservoir Engineers, support continuous improvement initiatives, collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to identify new drilling opportunities, and generate life of field production profiles while ensuring accurate reserves estimates and compliance. 

      

Reporting to the Head of Subsurface UK, the Senior Reservoir Engineer will have the following main duties and responsibilities:

  • Constructing and maintaining appropriate reservoir models, integrating geoscience interpretations to assess static reservoir properties.
  • Identifying and evaluating options for enhancing production and optimising recovery.
  • Managing reservoir engineering studies conducted by third-party contractors and vendors, ensuring quality and adherence to standards.
  • Supporting continuous improvement initiatives within the company, contributing to the refinement of reservoir management strategies.
  • Collaborating with the multidisciplinary Subsurface Team to identify new drilling opportunities and interventions for production enhancement.
  • Generating Life of Field production profiles and maintain auditable reserves estimates and reports, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Defining Reservoir Surveillance Plan to monitor reservoir performance and identify optimisation opportunities.
  • Leading and coordinating development project maturation activities when necessary, ensuring alignment with company objectives.
  • Providing technical expertise, support and guidance to Reservoir Engineers.
  • Developing comprehensive reservoir management strategies for each field to maximise production and economic recovery.
  • Collaborating with Production Engineers to design cost-effective monitoring strategies for verifying reservoir management effectiveness.
  • Evaluating various options to enhance production rates and optimise hydrocarbon recovery.
  • Collaborating within a multidisciplinary Subsurface Team to assess incremental production and reserves potential for each identified opportunity.
  • Quantifying key risks and uncertainties associated with development options, providing comprehensive risk assessments.
  • Maintaining a prioritised inventory of development opportunities, considering feasibility and potential returns.
  • Designing and implementing study and monitoring programs to mitigate risks and uncertainties and improve development strategies.
  • Collaborating closely with Production Engineers/Technologists to optimise well performance and potential.
  • Writing concise reports for all studies and maintain comprehensive, accessible, up-to-date records of input and interpreted data.

     

Experience/Qualifications:

  • A degree qualification in a relevant Engineering or Geoscience discipline is essential.
  • Previous experience in a similar role, directly within the North Sea oil and gas industry, is essential.
  • Previous experience in a similar role, directly with a North Sea-based E&P Company/Operator, would be preferred.
  • Experience with Eclipse and Petrel RE is essential.
  • Knowledge of OFM, Future, MBAL, Prosper and Saphir well test interpretation software would be preferred.
