Senior Subsea Support Engineer - VR/29683

Currently recruiting for an experienced Subsea Support Engineer on a permanent staff basis for a Subsea Service company based in Bridge of Don, Aberdeen.

     

This role would suit an experienced Project Engineer who holds a strong electrical engineering background within the Subsea/Oil and Gas sectors.  Applicants must be willing to work offshore, because in addition to office-based duties, this role will involve occasional offshore travel. 

     

Reporting to the Technical Team Lead, the Senior Subsea Support Engineer will have the following main duties and responsibilities:

      

  • Providing on-site installation, technical support and guidance to aid clients with conducting remote installations.
  • Providing technical service support for installed base.
  • Provide onshore and offshore diagnostics, fault finding, evaluation and repair services for electrical condition monitoring of subsea production control systems internationally.
  • Taking a lead role in fault diagnosis on electrical and communication associated with subsea control systems, using a combination of methodical data analysis from previous installs and documented experience, as well as interpretation of offshore ‘in field data’.
  • Mobilising at short notice for installation and commissioning of electrical condition monitoring equipment on onshore/offshore global oil and gas installations with preparation of associated work packs, commissioning, and test procedures for electrical condition monitoring equipment.
  • Conducting electrical integrity testing on subsea equipment (including insultation resistance, TDR measurements, power measurements etc) in onshore and offshore locations.
  • Generating concise and accurate documentation with an appropriate level of information for pre and post installation and testing activities.
  • Conducting onshore or offshore site surveys prior to equipment installation.
  • Mobilising offshore at short notice, ensuring appropriate risk assessments, procedures and authorisations are undertaken and approved.
  • Interpreting condition monitoring data from client installations and producing summary status reports for clients with recommendations where necessary.
  • Working collaboratively as a key member of the wider Product and Service Delivery Team and in support of the Business Development Team to determine the optimum technical strategy to support client needs for products and services.
  • Working cross-functionally to ensure technical ‘in-field’ experience and findings are cascaded to the product owners and other Key Stakeholders.
  • Supporting client technical training presentations and product demonstrations to promote the company’s products and service offerings.
  • Delivering post-installation lessons learned presentations to the Product and Service Delivery Team and Key Stakeholders from supply chain, quality and engineering to ensure these lessons learned are considered for future opportunities.
  • Ensuring that technical product and service delivery related non-conformances and improvement initiatives are supported and actioned in a timely manner.

      

Experience/Qualifications:

  • Current/valid offshore certification would be preferred.
  • BS 7671 IET Wiring Regulations (18th Edition) certification would be preferred.
  • Previous experience in a similar Subsea Support/Project Engineer type role, directly within the North Sea oil and gas industry, is essential.
  • Previous experience in a client-facing technical role is essential.
  • Applicants should have experience with oil and gas industry working practices, including electrical commissioning, testing and fault finding.
  • Applicants should have an understanding of subsea production control systems and configurations, as well as detailed knowledge of electrical and electronic components.
  • Applicants should be competent in working on multi-disciplinary tasks, covering electrical, electronic, basic networking and software elements.
  • Previous platform-based offshore experience would be preferred.
