Subsea Electronics Engineer - VR/29457

Currently recruiting for a Subsea Electronics Engineer on a permanent staff basis for a leading global drilling contractor based in Tullos, Aberdeen. This role would suit a candidate who is in the early stages of their electronics engineering career within the subsea well control field.

   

The Subsea Electronics Engineer will have the following main duties and responsibilities:

  • Providing shore-based support relating to vessel well control electronics equipment.
  • Providing support to the Offshore Subsea Team.
  • Ensuring that equipment failures are properly investigated, root causes identified, and remedial action taken in order to ensure reliability.
  • Ensuring offshore personnel are informed of any fleet wide issues, product bulletins and safety alerts. Providing advice on relevant corrective and preventative actions. 
  • Advising on preventative maintenance strategies relating to well control equipment and electrical and electronic control systems.
  • Assisting with planning, budgeting and executing electrical and electronic well control equipment upgrade and modification projects.
  • Assisting with analysis of well control equipment real time monitoring data for trending and reliability improvements.
  • Assisting with the resolution and correction of equipment failures and provide clear and accurate information on cause and effects of failures to key stakeholders.

       

Experience / Qualifications:

  • A relevant Electrical / Electronic Engineering Degree qualification is essential.
  • Chartered Engineer status, or working towards, would be preferred.
  • CompEx EX01-EX04 qualifications would be preferred.
  • Current / valid offshore certification would be preferred.
  • Previous experience in a similar role, directly within the North Sea Oil and Gas industry, is essential.
  • Applicants should have experience in design reviews, maintenance and troubleshooting for electrical and electronic control systems.
  • Applicants will be expected to have knowledge of well control or production control subsea electronics equipment.
  • Applicants should have knowledge of communication protocols, such as RS232, RS485, TCP/IP.
  • Applicants will be expected to have gained exposure to the planning and execution of projects and upgrades in offshore environments.
