An exciting opportunity has arisen for a qualified Accountant to join a high-performing and growing business in Aberdeen. This is a newly created role, driven by a period of significant expansion, offering the chance to play a key role in shaping the finance function as the organisation continues to scale.
The Role :
Reporting directly to the Finance Director, this position will take ownership of financial reporting across a number of newly acquired international entities. You will work closely with in-country tax and accounting advisors across Europe, ensuring compliance and consistency with group policies.
You will also take responsibility for key areas of vessel-related cost and revenue accounting, playing an integral role in ensuring accuracy, transparency, and insightful reporting to support decision-making.
In addition, you will supervise an Accounts Assistant, providing guidance and supporting their ongoing development.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Ownership of financial reporting for newly acquired legal entities.
- Month-end close activities, including accruals, prepayments, and reconciliations.
- Preparing reporting packs for senior leadership and external stakeholders.
- Overseeing vessel operating costs and revenue, including variance analysis.
- Managing stock and inventory accounting processes.
- Intercompany accounting and general ledger maintenance.
- Balance sheet reconciliations and resolution of discrepancies.
- Involvement in budgeting and quarterly forecasting.
- Supporting year-end audit processes and liaising with external auditors.
- Working closely with Tax Advisors to support compliance requirements.
- Driving improvements in processes, controls, and reporting.
About You:
- Professionally qualified accountant (CA/ACCA/ACA or equivalent).
- Proven experience in a similar role, ideally within a complex or growing environment.
- Strong technical accounting knowledge with attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
- Confident communicator, comfortable liaising with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Proactive, organised, and able to work on your own initiative.
