Business Development Manager role within international freight, focused on generating new business and expanding existing markets. Based in Aberdeen, this is a permanent opportunity suited to someone who thrives in a target-driven, outward-facing sales environment.

     

Main duties and responsibilities

  • Proactively identifying and pursuing new business opportunities within key sectors including energy, engineering and industrial markets.
  • Developing and executing a structured sales plan to generate and convert new leads.
  • Engaging prospective and existing clients through a mix of meetings, calls and networking activity.
  • Managing the full sales lifecycle from initial contact through to negotiation and close.
  • Preparing tailored proposals and commercial solutions aligned to client requirements.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with customers to support long-term growth.
  • Maintaining an active and accurate pipeline using CRM systems.
  • Monitoring market activity and competitor positioning to support sales strategy.
  • Collaborating with internal teams to ensure smooth onboarding of new clients.
  • Consistently achieving and exceeding agreed sales and activity targets.

        

Applicants to this role require

  • Proven experience in a business development role within freight, logistics or related sectors.
  • Strong track record of winning new clients and delivering against revenue targets.
  • Experience selling complex or solution-based services in a B2B environment.
  • Confident communicator with strong negotiation and presentation skills.
  • Self-motivated, proactive and comfortable working autonomously.
  • Commercially aware with a results-driven mindset.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel as required.
