Supporting ERP systems, reporting, and databases, you’ll play a key role in both day-to-day system improvements and major ERP upgrade programme. Overview Job Description:
Our client is seeking a Business Systems Engineer to join their established Business Systems Team, supporting critical ERP platforms, reporting solutions, and business applications across the organisation.
This is a highly visible role that combines technical systems expertise with business engagement, offering the opportunity to support existing platforms while contributing to strategic improvement initiatives and a significant ERP upgrade programme.
The successful candidate will work closely with users and stakeholders across the business to ensure systems operate effectively, data remains accurate, and reporting capabilities continue to evolve in line with organisational needs.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support, maintain and enhance ERP systems and associated business applications.
- Investigate, troubleshoot and resolve ERP and reporting-related issues.
- Develop, configure and improve business system functionality.
- Create, maintain and enhance reporting solutions using SQL, reporting tools, and Excel-based outputs.
- Support database integrity, data quality, and system performance.
- Gather and document business requirements from stakeholders.
- Participate in testing, change management, and deployment activities.
- Produce and maintain technical and process documentation.
- Contribute to ongoing business systems projects, including ERP upgrade initiatives.
- Work across both operational support and continuous improvement activities.
- Investigating and resolving business systems issues.
- Collaborating with users to understand system requirements.
- Developing and enhancing reports and dashboards.
- Supporting system testing and deployment processes.
- Assisting with business systems enhancements and upgrades.
- Maintaining documentation and process records.
Desirable Skills & Experience:
- Experience supporting or administering ERP systems.
- Experience working with databases and SQL.
- Background working within a Business Systems, ERP, or IT support environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience within engineering or manufacturing environments.
- ERP implementation or upgrade project exposure.
- Experience with system testing and change management processes.
- User training and stakeholder support experience.
- Knowledge of reporting tools and business intelligence solutions.
- Proactive and self-motivated approach.
- Strong attention to detail, particularly around data quality.
- Collaborative and team-oriented mindset.
- Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills.
- Committed to continuous improvement and system optimisation.
