An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Buyer to join a well-established engineering and fluid transfer solutions business based in Aberdeen. Operating internationally across a range of industrial sectors, the company is committed to delivering high-quality products and services while maintaining a strong focus on safety, customer service and operational excellence. Working within a busy procurement function, you will be responsible for managing the end-to-end purchasing process and ensuring materials and services are sourced efficiently to support business requirements.

     

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage the end-to-end order lifecycle, including sourcing, pricing, supplier coordination, delivery resolution and purchase order close out.
  • Select appropriate suppliers in line with supplier management strategies and approved supplier requirements.
  • Run and manage MRP reports, placing stock orders in a timely manner.
  • Process requisitions and pricing activities in accordance with company procedures.
  • Analyse supplier quotations, addressing commercial, contractual and technical considerations.
  • Prepare and issue purchase orders, ensuring orders protect the company’s interests and comply with relevant terms and conditions.
  • Monitor supplier performance and delivery commitments, identifying and mitigating risks where required.
  • Maintain effective relationships with suppliers and support strategic supplier management activities.
  • Resolve invoice queries and maintain effective communication with internal stakeholders including customer service, logistics, stores and finance teams.
  • Support cost reduction and continuous improvement initiatives through negotiation, sourcing alternatives and effective supplier management.

      

About you:

  • Previous experience working within a procurement environment.
  • Knowledge of a variety of purchasing methods and procedures.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to work effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Experience using ERP systems and strong Microsoft Word and Excel skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • A proactive, organised and flexible approach to work.
  • Ability to use initiative to drive projects, processes and improvements.
  • A qualification in purchasing methods and planning or scheduling experience would be advantageous.
