Commercial Advisor - VR/32509
This is a 6-month contract role supporting a broad range of commercial activities across operated and non-operated energy assets. Working closely with technical, operational and decommissioning teams, the position provides commercial guidance, helps shape strategy development and contributes to key business decisions. Covering commercial agreements, stakeholder engagement, joint venture activities and business planning, the role supports both operational and decommissioning-related activities within a UK operator environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the review, interpretation, negotiation and preparation of a range of commercial agreements and contracts, including joint venture and infrastructure-related arrangements.
- Provide commercial advice and guidance to internal stakeholders, senior management and external parties.
- Work closely with operational, engineering, subsea, project and decommissioning teams to support business objectives.
- Support the development and implementation of commercial strategies and tactical plans.
- Prepare commercial recommendations, options and supporting information for senior management review.
- Represent the business at joint venture, operator and industry meetings, ensuring commercial interests are protected and promoted.
- Prepare meeting papers, presentations, minutes and follow-up actions arising from commercial discussions.
- Support expenditure approval processes and engagement with joint venture partners.
- Contribute to business plans, asset plans, budgets and commercial decision-making activities.
- Maintain awareness of industry, commercial and market developments, ensuring key stakeholders remain informed.
- Maintain commercial risk and obligations registers and support associated governance activities.
- Support delivery of business improvement initiatives and other commercial projects as required.
About You:
- Experience in a similar commercial role within the oil and gas sector, ideally within an operator environment.
- Understanding of joint venture arrangements, commercial agreements and industry contracting practices.
- Strong commercial awareness, analytical capability and attention to detail.
- Experience supporting or leading commercial negotiations and decision-making processes.
- Effective communication, presentation and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to build relationships across multidisciplinary teams and external organisations.
- Strong organisational and planning skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Degree qualified in a business, technical or engineering discipline, or able to demonstrate equivalent experience.
- Knowledge of the UK oil and gas commercial and regulatory environment would be advantageous.
