Contracts Specialist (Projects) - VR/31951
This 12-month contract role supports a UK oil and gas operator, providing contractual management and tendering support across a portfolio of capital project and decommissioning contracts. The position focuses on leading tender and sourcing activity, managing post-award contract administration, and supporting project delivery while ensuring contractual and commercial risks are effectively managed. Hybrid working is available, with four days per week in the office and one working from home.
Key Responsibilities:
- Acting as the supply chain focal point for tendering and sourcing activity, prioritising tender schedules to meet project and business requirements.
- Preparing requests for proposal documentation, coordinating input from technical specialists and wider business stakeholders.
- Leading tender processes, including bidder communications, commercial and contractual evaluations, and coordination with technical and HES evaluation teams.
- Planning and leading commercial negotiations, preparing recommendations to award, and supporting internal tender board and co-venturer approvals where required.
- Drafting contracts using standard templates and coordinating contract execution.
- Managing post-award contract administration from kick-off through to close-out, working closely with contract owners and subject matter experts.
- Providing contractual advice, interpretation, and support to the business, engaging legal support where required for more complex matters.
- Supporting contract compliance, performance management, and improvement activity, including participation in contractor reviews.
- Assisting with the management of claims, variations, and disputes, taking the lead where appropriate.
- Maintaining compliant contract administration through company systems, processes, and e-procurement tools.
- Building and maintaining effective relationships with internal stakeholders and supply chain partners, supporting collaborative working and delivery outcomes.
About you:
- Experience managing tendering, award, and post-award contract activities within the energy sector, with operator experience advantageous.
- Strong understanding of end-to-end contracting processes, including sourcing, negotiation, and contract management.
- Comfortable leading commercial negotiations and managing contractual and commercial risk.
- Able to work effectively in a fast-paced, project-driven environment with changing priorities.
- Confident engaging with technical, commercial and support functions, building effective working relationships.
