Cost Controller/Senior Cost Controller - VR/32550

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Cost Controller or Senior Cost Controller to join a well-established international business on a 12-month fixed-term contract, providing maternity cover.

     

Reporting to the Project Services Manager, you'll play a key role in supporting a portfolio of projects, providing accurate financial reporting, cost control and commercial insight to help drive project performance. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a project-focused environment and partnering with operational teams.

      

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare client cost reports for assigned projects.
  • Produce sales invoices and monitor outstanding debt.
  • Review and approve vendor costs.
  • Support the preparation of variation orders alongside project teams.
  • Create and maintain project budgets following handover from the tendering function.
  • Prepare monthly project profit and loss reports, forecasts, accruals and variance analysis.
  • Identify and communicate potential cost overruns and commercial risks.
  • Review completed project costs against original budgets, providing feedback to support future estimating.
  • Support internal and external audits.
  • Provide financial input into monthly project review meetings with senior stakeholders.

      

About You:

We're keen to hear from candidates with previous project cost control or project accounting experience who enjoy working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

      

You'll also bring:

  • Experience within a project-based finance or cost control role.
  • Strong project accounting knowledge.
  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • Experience using ERP systems.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong analytical skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently when required.

      

A degree in Finance or Business Studies would be advantageous, while ACCA or CIMA qualification (or part qualification) would also be beneficial.
