The Design Engineer will provide support to the Engineering and Technical team in the development, detailed design and manufacture of drawings for remote intervention tooling concepts.  It will also involve continual improvement and adaptation of the company’s range of standard products, and concept and design of bespoke tooling solutions.

Reporting to the Engineering & Project Manager, the Design Engineer will have the following main duties and responsibilities:

• Use of 3D design software to produce concept models, detailed part, assembly and manufacturing drawings.
• Carry out engineering calculations and FEA studies to confirm suitability of designs.
• Produce technical documentation such as manuals, testing procedures and datasheets to accompany tooling.
• Carry out design and draughting work to international standards (i.e. BS8888).
• Ensure all design revisions are correctly recorded as per company QHSE procedure.
• Ensure all 3D Solidworks data is stored and managed correctly on the system.
• Liaise with Project, Engineering & Technical teams to prepare technical information for 3rd party supplier quotations.
• Assist with the preparation of client quotations by collating 3rd party quotations together with internal resource & equipment requirements.
• Provide technical support to the Project & Operations team with other activities, such as procurement, goods in checking / part inspection, project management, quotations, supplier identification, collation of drawing packs etc.
• Occasional off-site travel may be required (for example, to visit suppliers, witness load tests, attend client meetings).

Experience / Qualifications:

• Previous experience in a similar Design Engineer type role is essential.
• Previous ROV tooling design experience is essential.
• Applicants should have experience in 2D and 3D design packages for modelling, drawing, tolerance / GD&T, hydraulic systems and the preparation of models for FEA analysis.
• Applicants should have experience in mechanical tooling design from concept development, through to completion of detailed machining and fabrication drawings.
