Desktop Analyst providing frontline and advanced IT support to both vessel crew and office based users. The role covers end user computing, device deployment, Microsoft 365 and Active Directory support, connectivity troubleshooting, and hands on involvement in regional IT rollouts across shore and fleet environments.
Overview job description
This role delivers first?class end?user IT support across office and vessel environments. You’ll support users remotely and on?site, manage desktop hardware and devices, troubleshoot applications and connectivity, and assist with regional and global IT initiatives within a safety?critical operational environment.
Main duties and responsibilities
Office desktop & user support
- Deliver 1st line support to office?based personnel.
- Install, configure, and support Windows 10/11 devices.
- Administer user accounts within Active Directory and Microsoft 365.
- Support Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, and Microsoft Office applications.
- Manage printers, meeting?room technologies, and telephony equipment.
- Log, track, and resolve incidents via the IT service desk system.
- Escalate infrastructure or server issues to appropriate IT teams.
Vessel end user support
- Provide remote and onboard IT support to vessel crews.
- Build, configure, deploy, and replace laptops and workstations.
- Support onboard peripherals including printers, scanners, and related devices.
- Troubleshoot user access, profiles, and application issues.
- Support business systems and assist with satellite connectivity and remote access.
- Manage spare equipment kits and maintain onboard IT documentation and asset registers.
Safety & cybersecurity
- Operate in line with strict cybersecurity and vessel safety protocols.
- Avoid unauthorised configuration of OT or vessel systems to prevent operational or safety risk.
- Follow defined IT policies, build standards, and security controls at all times.
Project rollout & regional deployment
- Support global and regional IT initiatives and technology upgrades.
- Participate in hardware refresh programmes across the fleet and offices.
- Prepare, configure, and ship IT equipment to vessels.
- Follow standard builds, configurations, and global policies.
- Provide rollout status reporting to regional IT leadership.
- Act as on?site IT support during vessel mobilisation and dock periods.
- Undertake additional duties appropriate to the role when required.
Applicants to this role require
- Experience in a Desktop Support or IT Support role.
- Strong Windows 10/11 troubleshooting capability.
- Experience administering Microsoft 365 and Active Directory.
- Hands?on experience with hardware builds, deployment, and imaging.
- Basic networking knowledge (IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN).
- Strong customer service mindset and clear communication skills.
- Comfortable working in operational, fast paced environments.
