Environmental Advisor - VR/32165

An established offshore energy operator with assets in the UK Continental Shelf is seeking an Environmental Advisor to join its Environmental and Sustainability Team. This role supports 24/7 offshore operations and works closely with operational, project, and regulatory stakeholders to ensure full environmental and regulatory compliance. The role is initially a 12-month PAYE contract position with possibility for extension. Hybrid working available in addition to early finish Fridays.

     

The Environmental Advisor will report into the EH&S function with a focus on regulatory compliance and environmental performance across offshore assets.

      

Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities:

  • Supporting 24/7 offshore operations, ensuring environmental and regulatory requirements are met.
  • Preparing correspondence, documentation and regulatory submissions.
  • Interfacing with company personnel, contractors and regulators to ensure timely processing of documentation.
  • Coordinating with operations, well intervention and projects teams throughout offshore operational activities.
  • Preparing, submitting and obtaining environmental permits and consents, including:
    • MAT applications (e.g. DRA, PRA, PLA, WIA) and associated SAT applications.
    • OPPC and GHG submissions.
  • Investigating all PON1 or OCR non-compliances.
  • Managing IRS submissions, ensuring investigations progress to closure.
  • Submitting IRS non-compliances where required and track all non-compliances through to close-out.
  • Supporting and participating in monthly compliance meetings with Offshore Supervisors, covering:
    • Permit status.
    • Non-compliance/PON1 status.
    • Operational updates and regulator communications.
  • Managing F Gas reporting, ensuring records are maintained and chair monthly compliance meetings.
  • Managing chemical permits and chair monthly compliance discussions with Onshore Production Chemists.
  • Undertaking audits, both offshore and with third parties.
  • Participating in emergency response activities.
  • Interfacing extensively with regulators to maintain regulatory compliance.
  • Assisting with environmental projects to support continuous improvement of EH&S support to operations.
  • Undertaking offshore visits to support regulatory inspections and audits.

      

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Relevant degree or postgraduate diploma in an environmental discipline.
  • Previous experience working as an Environmental Advisor for an Offshore Operator.
  • Substantial experience with UKCS permitting requirements, including preparation and submission of regulatory applications.
  • Experience working directly with regulators, including responding to queries and supporting inspections.
  • Familiarity with Environmental and Energy Management Systems, including ISO 14001 and ISO 50001.

  • Contribute to the prevention of Major Accidents by complying with commitments set out in the company’s Major Accident Prevention Policy.
  • Demonstrate visible commitment to Process Safety through delivery against relevant PSM Framework expectations.
  • Comply with EH&S standards, management system requirements and applicable regulations.

      

Emergency Response:

  • Provide support to the Business Support Team (BST) in a role aligned to current responsibilities.
  • Undertake additional duties within the emergency response structure as required.
