Fabricator - VR/32014

Our client, a well-established engineering company, is currently looking to recruit an experienced Fabricator to join their team. This is a hands-on role involving fabrication, assembly, and installation of structural and piping systems, both in the workshop and on client sites. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering high-quality work in line with industry standards and safety requirements.

     

Overview job description:

  • Measuring, cutting, and preparing steel sections, plates, and pipework to required tolerances.
  • Fabricating and assembling structural and piping systems.
  • Installing structural and piping components on client sites.
  • Carrying out welding activities (GTAW, SMAW, GMAW, FCAW) where qualified.
  • Working to recognised standards including ISO, ASME, and AWS (if certified).
  • Tack weld a range of materials including carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminium, duplex, and cunifer.
  • Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and bills of materials (BOMs).
  • Using calibrated equipment to ensure accuracy and quality.
  • Maintaining high standards of housekeeping and adhere to PPE requirements.
  • Complying with HSE regulations, CDM 2015, and company procedures at all times.
  • Representing the company professionally on client sites and when required.

      

Applicants to this role require:

  • SVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in a relevant trade qualification.
  • Proven experience in fabrication within an engineering environment.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
  • Experience using hand and power tools.
  • Good understanding of fabrication processes and materials.
  • Strong attention to detail and quality standards.
  • Effective organisational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

      

Additional Requirements:

  • Comfortable working at height and in confined spaces.
  • Willingness to travel and work away from home as required.
  • Flexible approach to working hours, including overtime, weekends, and night shifts.
  • Experience working on CDM-regulated sites (preferred).
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 (advantageous).
  • Full UK Driving Licence (preferred).
