Finance Lead - VR/32518
A well-established charity is looking to appoint a Finance Lead to oversee its financial operations and provide key insight to support decision-making and long-term sustainability.
Working 30 hours per week, this role reports to the Chief Executive and manages the Finance Team, taking ownership of the day-to-day finance function while ensuring accurate reporting, effective controls and compliance across all areas of financial management.
This is a varied position combining operational finance leadership with strategic input, offering the opportunity to work closely with the Senior Management Team, Board of Trustees and wider stakeholders.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Preparing accurate monthly management accounts, financial reports and analysis to support organisational decision-making.
- Leading the annual budgeting process, including forecasting, reforecasting and cashflow management.
- Monitoring financial performance, identifying risks and opportunities, and providing recommendations to senior stakeholders.
- Maintaining robust financial controls, policies and procedures across the organisation.
- Supporting year-end accounts preparation and coordinating the external audit process.
- Ensuring compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements including VAT, payroll reporting and charity reporting obligations.
- Overseeing finance systems including Xero, transaction processing and reconciliation processes.
- Managing payroll, insurance arrangements and relationships with external providers.
- Leading and developing the Finance Team, providing support, guidance and professional development.
- Working with senior colleagues on financial strategy, business planning and organisational sustainability.
The successful candidate will be an experienced finance professional with a background in finance management, management accounts and financial reporting. You will have strong technical knowledge, excellent attention to detail and the ability to communicate financial information clearly to both finance and non-finance stakeholders.
You will be a confident and collaborative leader who enjoys working in a varied environment and can balance hands-on financial management with a wider strategic perspective.
