Freight Forwarder - VR/31915

An exciting opportunity has become available for a Freight Forwarder to join a well-established logistics provider based in Dyce, supporting customers across key industrial and energy-related sectors.

   

In this role, you will be responsible for organising the import, export and movement of cargo, ensuring shipments are handled efficiently and in line with customer requirements. You will provide specialist advice and guidance to customers, acting as a trusted point of contact while ensuring all activities comply with relevant legislation and regulations.

        

This is a full-time, permanent position offering a 37.5-hour working week. It is a fully office-based role in Dyce with a supportive team environment, and offers excellent opportunities for training and career progression, along with a generous holiday package.

       

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Completing Customs entries in HMRC systems (CHIEF AND CDS).
  • Monitoring and managing cargo movements from origin to destination.
  • Maintaining close working relationships with customers and providing advice to management through regular operational meetings.
  • Participating in out-of-hours duty or overtime as required.
  • Arranging haulage of cargo from origin point.
  • Coordinating with carriers to ensure safe and cost-effective transportation of cargo.
  • Negotiating rates, spot rates, space availability, and service capabilities with carriers.
  • Preparing competitive quotations for customers.
  • Complying with export-related legislation.
  • Understanding electronic customs links (e.g., CHIEF) and government/port controls relevant to exports.
  • Arranging marine cargo insurance on behalf of customers where appropriate.
