G&A Accountant - VR/32828

An established energy operator is seeking a G&A Accountant to join its Finance Team on a permanent basis in Aberdeen. This is a key role supporting budgeting, forecasting, cost reporting and stakeholder engagement, offering the opportunity to influence business performance and contribute to continuous improvement across the organisation

    

As G&A Accountant, you will play a key role within the Finance Team, taking responsibility for the reporting, forecasting and control of overhead costs across the business. Working closely with stakeholders across multiple departments, you will provide financial insight, support informed decision-making and help maintain strong financial governance.

        

This is a highly visible position offering broad exposure across the organisation, with the opportunity to influence performance, improve processes and contribute to ongoing business success.

         

Main Duties:

  • Managing month-end G&A accounting activities, including accruals, reporting and reconciliations.
  • Preparing budgets and forecasts for overhead and support function costs.
  • Analysing performance against budget, investigating and explaining variances.
  • Maintaining and enhancing cost allocation methodologies.
  • Delivering financial analysis and reporting to support business decisions.
  • Partnering with department managers to support planning and cost management.
  • Monitoring and improving timewriting and cost capture processes.
  • Ensuring compliance with financial controls and governance requirements.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve reporting, systems and processes.
  • Supporting wider business planning and forecasting activities.

          

Key Requirements:

  • Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) or equivalent experience.
  • Previous management accounting experience, including budgeting and forecasting.
  • Experience of overhead cost reporting, analysis and allocation.
  • Strong Excel and financial systems capability.
  • Ability to interpret complex financial data and provide meaningful insights.
  • Good understanding of financial controls and governance.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proactive approach with a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
