Global Compensation & Benefits Manager - VR/32960

Status: Permanent
Location: Edinburgh
Rate: Negotiable

An established, growing international organisation is looking for an experienced Compensation & Benefits Manager to take ownership of its global reward and benefits offering. This is a broad, influential role combining strategic development with hands-on delivery. You will shape compensation, benefits, and retirement programmes across Europe, Middle East, Americas, and Asia, helping the organisation remain competitive, compliant, and able to attract and retain talented people. The position can be fulfilled remotely, provided you are comfortable travelling to Edinburgh at least twice a month.

Key Responsibilities:

You will be responsible for developing and delivering a consistent, commercially focused reward approach across an international employee population.

Your remit will include:

  • Owning the strategy and ongoing development of regional employee benefits.
  • Developing compensation and reward programmes that support attraction, engagement and retention.
  • Managing the annual salary review process, including market benchmarking and recommendations.
  • Leading job evaluation, grading and compensation benchmarking activity.
  • Managing pension, retirement and auto-enrolment arrangements.
  • Overseeing management bonus plans and short and long-term incentive schemes.
  • Supporting benefits harmonisation and improvement projects across different locations.
  • Reviewing benefit providers, contracts and service-level agreements.
  • Managing relationships with benefit brokers, advisers and other external partners.
  • Working with HR and Payroll to implement new reward initiatives and ensure effective administration.
  • Producing clear employee communications covering compensation and benefits.
  • Monitoring relevant legislative and market developments, translating these into practical recommendations.
  • Using market data and internal insight to challenge existing approaches and improve the organisation’s wider reward offering.

Ideal Applicants:

We are looking for an established reward professional who can combine strong technical knowledge with the confidence to influence senior stakeholders.

You are likely to offer:

  • Proven experience managing compensation and benefits across multiple countries.
  • Strong salary benchmarking, job evaluation and grading experience.
  • Experience selecting and managing benefit brokers, providers and advisers.
  • A track record of delivering benefits harmonisation or wider reward transformation projects.
  • Experience managing bonus and incentive arrangements, ideally including both short and long-term plans.
  • Knowledge of pensions, retirement programmes and relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Strong vendor management skills, including reviewing contracts and service levels.
  • Excellent numerical, analytical and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Experience using HR information systems and managing benefit workflows through to Payroll.
  • The ability to lead projects independently and translate complex reward information into clear recommendations.
  • A relevant degree, HR qualification or equivalent professional experience.
  • Experience of equity-based incentive arrangements would be useful, although it is not essential.

Why Consider This Opportunity?

This role offers:

  • Genuine ownership of an international compensation and benefits remit.
  • The opportunity to shape reward strategy rather than simply administer existing programmes.
  • Regular exposure to executive and senior leadership stakeholders.
  • A varied portfolio spanning compensation, benefits, pensions, incentives and job evaluation.
  • The chance to lead meaningful harmonisation and improvement initiatives.
  • A predominantly remote working arrangement if preferred, balanced with regular collaboration in Edinburgh.

If you are an experienced compensation and benefits professional looking for greater ownership, international exposure and the flexibility of remote working, this could be an excellent next step.
