TMM Recruitment are working with a leading, global energy sector service provider specialising in subsea, onshore / offshore, and surface projects to source a Global Network Engineer on a permanent basis.

   

Based in Westhill, Aberdeenshire, this role requires applicants to have experience in a support and implementation role working on a large heterogeneous enterprise network infrastructure and knowledge of ITIL methodology or structured IT best practice framework.

     

Overview:

The IT and our IDS organisation of this company is undergoing a digital revolution. The Enterprise Network is critical to how they work, it is truly a service that enables the business at all levels of company operations. The Global Network Engineer has responsibilities to maintain, upgrade and develop their systems primarily focused on Europe, Middle East, Africa and our Global Fleet. In addition, participating and running projects to expand current systems or deploy new systems / locations and providing expert network support to all areas within the Enterprise Network scope.

      

The role reports into the Network Manager – EMEA and vessels and has no supervisory responsibility. The key interactions and stakeholders are;

  • Internally: Peers in Global IT organization
  • Externally: External operators, service providers and suppliers

     

Main duties and responsibilities

  • All site network infrastructure including but not limited to: VPN’s, Riverbeds, Firewalls, Routers, Switches, Wireless, general LAN / WAN, VOIP;
  • Ability to control costs and deliveries, focused in quality objectives;
  • Ability to convince, organize and negotiate;
  • Ability to create, propose new solutions;
  • Able to work in Global environment and culture, with flexible hour concept;
  • Adequate project management skills and ability to manage time and complex tasks;
  • Excellent understanding of high latency – low bandwidth environments;
  • Good understanding of Cisco LAN/WAN technology;
  • Hands-on experience in network / switching / routing;
  • Should have a high degree of competency in technical areas: Networking Protocols/Services BGP, OSPF, IPSec, GRE, HSRP / VRRP, NAT / PAT, SNMP, MPLS, VPLS, QoS, Multicast, STP, Riverbeds;
  • Strongly service orientation minded.

     

Skills, Qualifications and Experience:

    

Required:

Fundamental to the role is the ability to Interact with global multi-national team and willingness to learn and adapt quickly to new technologies.

  • Able to work and contribute to a team environment;
  • Able to work in an on-call rota;
  • Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent work experience;
  • Experience of ITIL methodology or structured IT best practice framework;
  • Experience of working with onshore networks and networks for remote sites and offshore installations;
  • Flexible attitude to working hours;
  • Initiative and ability to multitask with multiple projects and work independently if necessary;
  • Considerable experience in support and implementation role on supporting large heterogeneous enterprise network infrastructure;
  • Strong or excellent communication skill in English.

     

Preferred:

  • Cisco certified level of CCNA;
  • Familiarity with ITIL processes;
  • Strong personal efficiency and problem-solving skills; very concerned by security and standardisation / rationalisation aspects.
