Graduate Software Electronics Engineer (CSS) - VR/32994
An opportunity for a Graduate Software & Electrical Engineer to develop hands-on experience across software, electronics and subsea robotics. Working on ROV systems, you’ll contribute to control software, sensor integration, testing and troubleshooting while developing practical engineering expertise alongside an experienced Technical Team.
Our client is looking for a Graduate Software & Electrical Engineer to support the continued development, integration, testing and maintenance of software and electrical systems used across its ROV platforms.
Working alongside experienced Engineers and Technicians, you’ll gain practical exposure to the design and optimisation of control systems, sensor interfaces and hardware integrations for subsea equipment. The position combines software development with hands-on engineering, making it particularly suited to a graduate interested in robotics, control systems and the interaction between software and physical hardware.
Main duties and responsibilities:
- Support the design and development of software and electrical systems for ROVs, including control loops, sensor interfaces, communications and hardware integration.
- Develop and maintain software solutions for control systems, data acquisition and visualisation, primarily within Linux environments.
- Integrate sensors, actuators, valve packs and navigation hardware into ROV control systems.
- Work alongside Engineers and Technicians to test, validate and troubleshoot ROV subsystems across software, electronic and network environments.
- Support root-cause analysis and technical troubleshooting within workshop and remote environments.
- Prepare technical documentation including schematics, interface definitions, system diagrams, test procedures and software documentation.
Applicants to this role require:
- A degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science or a related discipline.
- Knowledge of C/C++ programming and Linux.
- Exposure to front-end programming and an understanding of the relationship between software, hardware and user requirements.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to take technical problems from initial requirement through development, testing and refinement.
- An interest in control systems, robotics or integrated software/electronic systems.
Previous exposure to advanced software control systems would be beneficial, while familiarity with ROV/robotics control systems or ROS/ROS2 would be particularly advantageous.
