H&S Compliance Manager - VR/32748
A well-established UK manufacturing and distribution business is looking for a Health, Safety & Compliance Manager to join its North Aberdeen headquarters on a permanent staff basis. Operating across multiple sites throughout the UK and employing around 130 people, the organisation is seeking a hands-on health and safety professional to drive continuous improvement, strengthen compliance and embed a proactive safety culture across the business.
As Health, Safety & Compliance Manager, you will take ownership of health, safety and compliance across a busy manufacturing operation and six UK distribution sites. Reporting into the Managing Director and Senior Leadership Team, you will be the principal advisor for all health, safety and compliance matters, providing practical guidance and leadership across the organisation.
This is a highly visible role that combines strategic responsibility with a strong operational presence. You will spend time engaging directly with employees and Managers, carrying out site visits, investigating incidents and implementing improvements that have a tangible impact on safety performance across the business.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop the company's health and safety strategy, policies and annual improvement plans.
- Act as the primary advisor to senior leadership and operational management on health, safety and compliance matters.
- Conduct regular inspections and audits across manufacturing and distribution locations.
- Ensure risk assessments and safe systems of work are maintained and effectively implemented.
- Investigate accidents, incidents and near misses, identifying root causes and driving corrective actions.
- Manage compliance with relevant UK health and safety legislation and industry requirements.
- Maintain and coordinate audits, accreditations and certifications, ensuring ongoing compliance and audit readiness.
- Identify training requirements and maintain health and safety training programmes across the business.
- Oversee occupational health arrangements, health surveillance and employee wellbeing initiatives.
- Develop and monitor key health and safety performance indicators and provide regular reporting to senior management.
Applicants to this role require:
- NEBOSH National General Certificate as a minimum requirement.
- NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent qualification would be advantageous.
- IOSH membership at an appropriate level.
- Previous experience within manufacturing, warehousing, logistics, distribution or another operationally focused environment.
- Experience managing health and safety across multiple sites.
- Strong knowledge of UK health and safety legislation and compliance requirements.
- Proven experience investigating incidents and implementing effective corrective actions.
- Confidence communicating with stakeholders at all levels, from shop floor employees through to senior management.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- A practical, solutions-focused approach with the ability to influence and drive positive change.
- Full UK Driving Licence and willingness to travel regularly throughout the UK.
