Maternity cover assignment for a hands-on HR Advisor in Aberdeen. This PART-TIME contract role will cover three days per week (Monday to Wednesday) for 12 months from July 2024, and will offer proactive and reactive Generalist support to an offshore workforce as part of a high-performing HR function.

     

Overview:

Reporting to an Aberdeen-based HR Manager, the Part-Time HR Advisor will support a wide variety of activities including recruitment, employee relations and HR reporting, ensuring compliance with relevant local and international employment legislation.

The role sits within a small team of HR Advisors and works closely with colleagues in Personnel Logistics, Training, and Payroll.

      

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Serving as a resource for employee enquiries, employee relations issues and investigations.
  • Administering pre-employment testing and background screenings and conducting new employee orientations.
  • Advising and supporting managers on department resourcing requirements in accordance with company policy, coordinating the recruitment and selection of personnel as required.
  • Maintaining relationships with key agencies and supporting rate review processes.
  • Assisting managers with preparing job descriptions and defining role requirements.
  • Assisting in the recruitment process and preparing job offers and contracts.
  • Overseeing the weekly offshore manning reports and setting up monthly meetings to review manning against contract.
  • Proactively building and maintaining relationships with managers to identify people issues and advise/assist in managing issues before they escalate.
  • Researching best practices for the development and implementation of relevant policies and procedures. Keep abreast of new and anticipated legislation; enforce adherence to requirements and advise management of needed actions.
  • Providing up to date employment law/procedural advice in line with company policy to line managers on all HR issues such as disciplinary, grievance, appeals, maternity, paternity, redundancies, and absence management.
  • Providing support of referrals for absence levels and long-term absences for both onshore and offshore.
  • Tracking and booking for onshore employees offshore medical certification.
  • Supporting rig up-man and down-man processes.
  • Maintaining and overseeing HR system to ensure up to date and accurate information is loaded.
  • Supporting in the tender review process.
  • Supporting the maintenance and improvement of People strategies, related practices, processes, and policies.
  • Assisting as necessary with talent management and succession planning initiatives.
  • Preparing and updating HR policies and procedures including the employee handbook to ensure that they meet the needs of the organisation, in line with current legislation and aligned with Corporate.
  • Actively promote company HR policies and procedures and proactively communicate these to the company.
  • Supporting in the employee relocation process.
  • Preparing routine reports, researching and analysing information, recommending courses of action, and providing appropriate and timely responses.

      

Applicants to this role require:

  • Demonstrable HR Generalist experience, particularly within the offshore Energy industry,
  • Relevant HR qualification/degree.
  • Working knowledge of UK employment legislation.
  • Flexibility, creativity, sensitivity, excellent communication skills, and the ability to collaborate with Managers and HR colleagues.
  • The ability to manage numerous tasks simultaneously whilst meeting deadlines.
  • HRIS and Microsoft Office proficiency.

      

Additional Information:

  • Commences in early July 2024, for an initial 12 months.
  • 22.5 hours per week (8:30am-4:30pm, Monday to Wednesday).
  • Opportunity to work from home 1 day per week.
  • Paid an hourly/daily rate via TMM Recruitment (weekly).
  • Additional allowance paid for participation in an On-Call rota (1 week in 4).
