HSE Manager – Assets - VR/31935

A leading UK-based energy operator with a broad portfolio of onshore and offshore assets is seeking an HSE Manager - Assets to join its established HSE function. This is an initial one year PAYE contract position based in Aberdeen, supporting operated assets across the UK Continental Shelf and the Netherlands. Although the role is Aberdeen based, regular travel will be required to all operated assets both onshore and offshore. Hybrid working available.

     

The HSE Manager – Assets will provide leadership, supervision and strategic direction to the asset Health, Safety and Environmental Team, ensuring delivery of high performance, regulatory compliance and a proactive HSE culture. The role supports stakeholders in meeting organisational HSE objectives and in adhering to the HSE Management System, regulatory requirements and continuous improvement initiatives.

      

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading and supervising the Asset HSE Team to drive strong safety performance and continuous improvement.
  • Ensuring asset-level understanding and management of HSE risks, barriers and assurance processes.
  • Planning and managing HSE resources to meet the requirements of the HSE Management System and regulatory obligations.
  • Supporting development and delivery of HSE objectives, plans and improvement initiatives.
  • Analysing performance indicators to prioritise improvement opportunities.
  • Engaging regularly with the workforce through site visits and leadership interactions.
  • Preparing for and supporting regulatory inspections, audits and assurance activities, ensuring lessons are captured and shared. 
  • Ensuring timely, robust incident investigations and follow-up, with particular focus on high-potential events.
  • Liaising proactively with relevant regulatory authorities.

      

Requirements:

  • Degree qualified in a relevant technical discipline or HSE-related diploma (e.g. NEBOSH).
  • Professional membership of a relevant HSE or technical institute.
  • Valid offshore certification and ability to travel offshore.
  • Qualified ISO Lead Auditor (or equivalent).
  • Proven experience managing teams in a high-hazard environment or industry.
  • Demonstrable experience liaising with and interacting with regulatory authorities.
  • Strong understanding of UK HSE legislation, particularly relating to Major Accident Hazards.
