HV Electrical Project Engineer - VR/32140

Currently seeking an experienced HV Electrical Project Engineer on a permanent staff basis for a leading international multi-disciplinary engineering services provider.

     

Based out of the company’s Inverurie office, the Electrical Project Engineer will act as the lead technical support on projects, from initial enquiry and tendering right through to construction, commissioning and energisation.  There will be a particular emphasis on the HV electrical elements of M&E projects.  You will be part of the Transmission & Distribution (T&D) Team, offering you the opportunity to expand your knowledge and experience on electrical installations up to 400kV.

      

The Electrical Project Engineer will have the following main duties and responsibilities:

  • Alterations to working drawings.
  • Preparing design drawings covering all aspects of high and low voltage equipment.
  • Liaising and coordinating with members of the Design Team, contractors and in-house project team on technical and commercial issues.
  • Creating installed drawings and O&M manuals.
  • Processing requisitions, generation of purchase orders and confirm delivery to site.
  • Seeking to clarify queries with the Design Team through the Request for Information (RFI) system.
  • Attending technical meetings with members of the Design Team, contractors, and in-house Project Team.
  • Carrying out document control, recording and transmitting information.
  • Preparing method statements and risk assessments for production activities.
  • Organising and assessing the work of sub-contractors.
  • Carrying out Quality Control through inspections and snagging.
  • Preparing test packs for recording the completion of systems.
  • Preparing project schedules, material take offs and out to tender schedules.
  • Project scheduling.
  • Assisting with the procurement of materials, equipment and services.
  • Assisting with the preparation of technical documentation for issue of tenders and construction.
  • Preparing tender, construction and as-built design drawings using AutoCAD.
  • Preparing project programs using MS Project.
  • Preparing wiring schematics for electrical services such as fire alarm, nurse call, intruder alarm, door access, emergency lighting.
  • Carrying out lighting design calculations.
  • Carrying out cable sizing and cable containment sizing calculations.
  • Coordinating ‘first fix’ and ‘second fix’ electrical services.
  • Assisting with documentation for contract variations.
  • Assisting with commissioning of all systems installed.
  • Ensuring the adherence to safety and quality standards.
  • Ensuring all latest building and electrical design standards and regulations are adhered to.

      

Experience / Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in a similar role is essential.
  • Previous electrical engineering design/project management experience on industrial installation projects is essential.
  • Applicants should have a detailed understanding of HV and MV network requirements in industrial settings, with a particular emphasis on resilience and studies requirements.
  • Applicants should have experience with energy management systems and the integration of automated control systems to electrical networks.
