Working within the Design & Draughting Team and reporting directly to the Head of Design & Draughting, the Hydraulic Project / Design Engineer will have the following main duties and responsibilities:

• Ensuring project documentation, procedures and associated work instructions are developed and defined in line with company/client procedures.
• Cost management of the hydraulic budgets associated with the wider project workscope.
• To design new hydraulic systems and electro-hydraulic equipment for rental equipment or external clients in conjunction with the wider multi-disciplined engineering and projects teams.
• To implement and project manage hydraulic upgrades to existing company and client owned equipment.
• Work closely with the overall Engineering Team, hydraulic workshop personnel & offshore teams.
• To liaise with hydraulic sub-contractors and suppliers in conjunction with the Projects, Procurement and Engineering teams.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives and identify inefficiencies and cost optimisation opportunities.
• Create and implement best practice directives, policies, and processes to improve operational and financial performance.
• Deliver solutions to problems while maintaining high levels of quality and service within budgetary requirements.
• Responsibility for the successful delivery of allocated hydraulic projects, or a defined hydraulic scope of work from the Head of Design & Draughting.
• Support the full hydraulic scope through its entire project life cycle from initial specification/ kick off, engineering phase, manufacture, assembly, testing, through to the delivery or execution.

Experience/Qualifications:

• A degree qualification in a relevant engineering discipline would be preferred.
• Previous experience in a similar role is essential.
• Experience in generating, reading, interpreting and following hydraulic schematics and wiring diagrams is essential.
• Experience in using CAD software is essential.
• Prior design experience of open and closed loop hydraulic systems is essential, as is knowledge of Rexroth, Parker, Wandfuth or similar hydraulic manufacturer products and equipment.
• Applicants should have experience in specifying hydraulic and electro-hydraulic components, valves, hoses and pipework sizing to suit design applications such as winches, tensioners, hydraulic power units, cranes and back deck equipment.
• Cetop, NFPA or BFPA hydraulic training would be advantageous.
