Materials Rationalisation Focal Point - VR/32251

A 12-month contract within an independent upstream energy business, focused on optimising materials management through data cleansing, inventory standardisation and improved master data accuracy. The role centres on analysing and rationalising inventory to reduce duplication and excess stock, while ensuring alignment with engineering requirements and materials governance standards across the supply chain.

     

Key Responsibilities:

  • Reviewing and rationalising material master data, removing duplicates, obsolete items and redundant stock.
  • Ensuring accuracy of material master data within ERP systems.
  • Analysing inventory levels, usage patterns and demand history to identify opportunities for consolidation or reduction.
  • Working with engineering and operations teams to standardise materials, specifications and approved alternatives.
  • Supporting the development of a common parts strategy across sites.
  • Managing disposals arising from rationalisation activities in line with internal procedures.
  • Leading change management for material updates, additions and deletions.
  • Engaging cross-functional teams to identify and implement improvements in materials management.
  • Monitoring compliance with technical specifications, quality requirements and governance standards.
  • Providing reporting on inventory performance, stock reduction and rationalisation progress.
  • Supporting KPI tracking and contribute to performance reporting and dashboards.
  • Conducting site visits to support physical inventory analysis and resolve technical queries.

      

About You:

  • Experience in materials management, procurement, supply chain or engineering.
  • Background in inventory optimisation, master data or catalogue management.
  • Experience delivering rationalisation or standardisation initiatives.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex datasets.
  • Experience working with ERP systems such as SAP or Maximo.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence across functions.
  • High attention to detail and a disciplined approach to data governance.
