An exciting staff opportunity has arisen for an experienced Network Architect to join a growing energy organisation. This strategic leadership role will focus on defining network architecture, security and connectivity across UK and international operations, while leading a team of specialists and shaping the future technology roadmap.

   

A well-established organisation within the energy sector, is seeking an experienced Network Architect to lead the strategic direction of its enterprise network environment across UK and international operations.

          

Reporting into the IT Operations & Delivery Manager, you will be responsible for defining and evolving the organisation's network architecture strategy, standards and long-term roadmap. This is a senior leadership position where you will play a key role in ensuring the network infrastructure remains secure, resilient and scalable to support future business growth.

         

Working closely with technology teams, business stakeholders and external partners, you will translate complex connectivity requirements into practical, effective solutions. Alongside providing technical leadership, you will develop and mentor a team of network professionals, driving continuous improvement and maintaining high technical standards.

         

This role offers the opportunity to influence strategic technology decisions, support integration projects and contribute to the development of a modern, future-focused technology landscape.

         

Main duties and responsibilities

  • Define, maintain and evolve the network architecture strategy, standards and long-term roadmap.
  • Provide technical leadership for secure, resilient and scalable network solutions across multiple locations and operational environments.
  • Lead, coach and develop a network engineering team, fostering collaboration, knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.
  • Partner with business and technology stakeholders to translate operational requirements into effective network solutions.
  • Manage relationships with telecommunications providers and third-party suppliers, ensuring service quality, performance and value.
  • Champion network security, resilience, governance and business continuity initiatives across the organisation.

           

Applicants to this role require

  • Proven experience in a Network Architect, Lead Network Engineer or senior network leadership position.
  • Strong enterprise networking expertise across LAN, WAN, wireless, network security and cloud connectivity.
  • Demonstrable experience leading, mentoring and developing technical teams.
  • Experience managing third-party network and telecommunications providers, contracts and service level agreements.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Relevant networking certifications such as CCNP, CCIE or equivalent experience.
  • A pragmatic, collaborative and solution-focused approach.
  • Willingness to travel within the UK and internationally when required.
