Opportunity for an experienced Payroll Assistant to join a successful multi-site organisation. Supporting the Payroll Manager, you'll play a key role in delivering accurate payroll services, maintaining compliance, and improving processes. Ideal for a detail-focused payroll professional seeking a varied and rewarding position.

    

Main duties and responsibilities

  • Supporting the end-to-end monthly payroll process, ensuring accuracy and adherence to deadlines.
  • Assisting with the administration of employee lifecycle changes.
  • Maintaining and updating time and attendance system records.
  • Processing payroll-related calculations including overtime, holiday pay, SSP, SMP and SPP.
  • Supporting pension auto-enrolment activities and associated compliance requirements.
  • Administering deductions and statutory orders in line with legislative requirements.
  • Maintaining accurate payroll records and filing systems.
  • Assisting with year-end payroll processes, reporting, and compliance obligations.
  • Providing support and cover for the Payroll Manager when required.
  • Contributing to the review and improvement of payroll procedures and processes.

      

Applicants to this role require

  • Previous payroll experience, ideally within a high-volume environment.
  • An understanding of payroll legislation, pensions, and statutory requirements.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Microsoft Excel skills, or a willingness to further develop them.
  • Excellent communication skills with the confidence to liaise with stakeholders at all levels.
