Payroll Lead - VR/32750

A key role within a growing organisation, this position will take ownership of payroll and timekeeping operations across the business, ensuring accurate, timely and compliant processing for a diverse workforce.

     

The role will include:

  • Overseeing end-to-end payroll processing across monthly, weekly, offshore, workshop, site and office-based employee groups.
  • Ensuring accurate processing of salaries, allowances, overtime, shift premiums, bonuses and deductions.
  • Managing the relationship with the external payroll provider and ensuring compliance with PAYE, NI, pensions and statutory requirements.
  • Reviewing payroll inputs, reconciling payroll outputs and maintaining accurate employee records.
  • Overseeing time and attendance systems, ensuring accurate recording of hours, overtime, leave and absence.
  • Working with operational managers to resolve timekeeping discrepancies and payroll queries.
  • Leading and supporting the payroll/timekeeping team, including coaching and development.
  • Acting as the key point of contact for managers and employees on payroll, pay and statutory entitlement queries.
  • Working closely with Finance and Commercial on payroll reconciliations and contractual requirements.
  • Supporting audits and ensuring payroll and timekeeping processes are compliant and appropriately documented.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve payroll and timekeeping processes, systems and the employee experience.
  • Producing HR and payroll reporting and metrics for leadership.

           

The successful candidate will have:

  • Proven experience in a payroll leadership or senior payroll position.
  • Strong knowledge of UK payroll legislation, HMRC requirements and pension administration.
  • Experience managing time and attendance systems.
  • Strong numerical accuracy and excellent attention to detail.
  • Experience managing or supervising a team.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • The ability to interpret complex pay rules and contractual terms.
  • A good understanding of commercial terms and associated risks.
  • Experience within a multi-site, operational or offshore environment would be advantageous.
  • Knowledge of reward structures, allowances and shift-based pay would also be beneficial.
