Currently recruiting for an experienced Performance Engineer (Drilling Operations) on a permanent staff basis for an international drilling contractor based in Westhill, Aberdeenshire. This role will involve occasional travel to rigs and client offices, as well to DWOPs / Technical Conferences and Drilling Contractor forums, therefore applicants must be willing to do this. Reporting to the Senior Vice President of Operations, the Performance Engineer will be accountable for the implementation and development of performance improvements of drilling operations across the fleet. The successful candidate will analyse drilling operations performance and develop performance reports. The Performance Engineer will also be responsible for the generation of all performance dashboards and operations documentation, including the Well Control Manual. Possessing expert experience in well construction processes, the Performance Engineer will be expected to provide drilling technical knowledge.

The Performance Engineer will have the following main duties and responsibilities:

  • Monitoring / analysing key performance indicators (KPIs), related to drilling operations, with appropriate software and analysis of the Lessons Learned System.
  • Highlighting opportunities for cost efficiency and performance improvement, identifying challenges and proposing innovative technology solutions.
  • Ensuring the Offshore Teams are challenged to have meaningful conversations prior to a task.
  • Coaching Rig Managers / OIMs and Toolpushers for the implementation of the performance process culture onboard each installation and for regional performance meetings.
  • Actively contributing to the Monthly Performance Review (MPR) by providing performance KPIs for each installation.
  • Establishing operations / reporting guidelines that will be converted into corporate procedures.
  • Focal point for Well Control Manual. Responsible for yearly updates when industry standards change.
  • Supporting offshore teams and facilitating knowledge sharing across the fleet.
  • Analysing the NPT and give solutions for performance improvement.
  • Working closely with the Marketing Team for meeting current and prospective clients, in order to showcase the performance culture and demonstrating how performance is tracked and monitored.
  • Providing guidance and support to onshore and offshore personnel, as required.

Experience / Qualifications:

  • A degree qualification in a Drilling / Mechanical Engineering discipline is essential.
  • Previous experience in a similar Performance Engineer type role, directly with a drilling contractor, is essential.
  • Circa 10-12 years’ experience in a drilling engineering-based role would be preferred.
  • Considerable well construction experience is essential.
  • Applicants will be expected to possess 5+ years’ experience in an offshore supervisory / leadership role.
  • Applicants will be expected to possess a thorough understanding of typical business functions (Operations, HR, Finance, Marketing etc.).
