Status: Temp/Contract
Location: Kingswells, Aberdeen, AB15
Rate: Available Upon Request

Join a large, international independent oil and gas business on a temporary basis until end of December 2027. Working within the Supply Chain function, you’ll combine procurement expertise with data analysis and process improvement, helping to identify issues, strengthen processes and deliver practical improvements across procurement operations. The role also includes hands-on operational buying support when required.

This role focuses on driving continuous improvement across procurement by analysing performance, identifying inefficiencies and control gaps, and translating insight into practical solutions. You’ll work cross-functionally with Procurement, Finance, Materials Management, SAP and wider business stakeholders to improve processes, strengthen governance and enhance the overall user experience.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead structured problem-solving and root-cause analysis across procurement to address recurring issues, reduce rework and drive sustainable improvements.
  • Analyse procurement data, trends and process performance to identify risks, bottlenecks, control gaps and opportunities to improve cost, value and service.
  • Develop and maintain dashboards, reports and management information, turning complex data into clear insights and recommended actions.
  • Establish measures and benefit tracking to demonstrate improvements across efficiency, compliance, cycle time, quality and value.
  • Map existing processes and design improved future-state processes, coordinating implementation across relevant business functions.
  • Develop and maintain procurement procedures, process maps, work instructions, templates, training materials and user guidance.
  • Facilitate workshops and work with stakeholders to challenge existing processes constructively and agree practical improvements.
  • Support change implementation through communication, training, adoption monitoring and post-implementation reviews.
  • Coach buyers and business stakeholders, helping to promote consistent application of procurement standards.
  • Provide operational buying support where required, including requisition review, sourcing and quotation evaluation, purchase order creation and amendment, expediting, invoice query resolution and communication of supply risks.

About you:

  • Significant procurement experience, including operational buying, sourcing, purchase orders and procurement controls.
  • Proven experience delivering process improvement, problem-solving or change initiatives within a complex environment.
  • Strong procurement systems and data experience, ideally including SAP, Maximo and Ariba.
  • Advanced Excel and strong analytical and reporting skills; Power BI or similar would be advantageous.
  • Experience developing processes, procedures, process maps and user guidance.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the confidence to challenge existing ways of working and influence improvements.
  • A relevant degree or equivalent experience is preferred, alongside MCIPS or progress towards MCIPS.
  • Previous upstream energy or other regulated, asset-intensive industry experience would be beneficial.

If you enjoy getting under the skin of procurement problems, working with data and systems, improving how things are done and still keeping your hand in operational buying, this role offers an interesting balance of analytical, improvement and practical procurement work.
