An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Procurement & Inventory Manager to join a well-established engineering and manufacturing business in Aberdeen. This is a key leadership role responsible for driving procurement strategy, optimising inventory management, and ensuring an efficient, cost-effective supply chain that supports operational excellence. Working closely with senior leadership and cross-functional teams, you'll play a pivotal role in developing supplier partnerships, improving inventory accuracy, and implementing continuous improvement initiatives across procurement and stock management.

     

As Procurement & Inventory Manager, you will be responsible for leading the procurement and inventory functions, ensuring materials are sourced competitively while maintaining the highest standards of  quality, availability and compliance.

          

Overview job description

  • Developing and implementing procurement strategies aligned with business objectives.
  • Managing supplier selection, negotiations and ongoing supplier performance.
  • Building strong supplier relationships to improve service, quality and value.
  • Managing the purchasing process from requisition through to delivery.
  • Overseeing inventory control, stock accuracy and cycle count programmes.
  • Analysing inventory performance to identify obsolete, slow-moving or excess stock and implementing corrective actions.
  • Working with finance to support budgeting, forecasting and stock valuation activities.
  • Monitoring and reporting on procurement and inventory KPIs.
  • Driving continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Ensuring compliance with company procedures and procurement best practice.

            

Applicants to this role require

  • Significant experience within procurement, supply chain or inventory management in an engineering or manufacturing environment.
  • A minimum CIPS Level 4 qualification.
  • Strong knowledge of ERP/MRP systems.
  • Experience managing supplier relationships and inventory within a complex manufacturing operation.
  • Previous leadership experience with the ability to develop and motivate teams.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • A full UK driving licence.
