Project Analysis Engineer - VR/32093

Currently seeking an experienced Project Analysis Engineer on a permanent staff basis for an Oil & Gas service company based in Aberdeen.

     

Reporting to the Lead Project Engineer, the Project Analysis Engineer will have the following main duties and responsibilities:

  • Carrying out Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and associated engineering to support the projects team, covering strength and fatigue assessments. Ensuring work is completed accurately and in accordance with applicable standards and procedures. Conducting post-processing and deliver informed guidance on design optimisation opportunities.
  • Driving forward engineering scope on assigned project(s) and reporting progress throughout.
  • Contributing to broader engineering and structural design activities, providing technical guidance where appropriate, prioritising and organising tasks effectively, identifying problems and developing practical solutions (ensuring they are implemented).
  • Providing internal and external technical support during project execution, including operations /manufacturing support, assembly trials, planning and attending testing, Site Integration Testing (SIT), installation and commissioning.
  • Preparing project documentation and manuals by engaging with customers.
  • Preparing, checking, and/or approving drawings, documents, reports, technical notes, and calculations, ensuring they meet project requirements and technical standards.
  • Leading project kick off meetings and actively participating in or lead design reviews, including client and internal design reviews, contract and scope reviews and client interface meetings.
  • Defining, managing and driving the project delivery schedule, identifying critical path items, capturing QA/QC elements and reporting progress throughout.
  • Identifying and assessing commercial, contractual, design and schedule risks. Minimising impact on the business and highlight key issues to senior staff.
  • Taking ownership of ordering materials and services in good time to meet project requirements, raising material enquiries and purchase requisitions as required.
  • Working collaboratively within the Projects Team, supporting knowledge sharing and contributing to a positive and professional working environment.

     

Experience/Qualifications:

  • A degree qualification in Structural, Mechanical or Civil Engineering (or another similar engineering discipline) is essential.
  • Experience in structural analysis and FEA, directly within the offshore sector, is essential.
  • Applicants should have working knowledge of fatigue analysis, including stress concentration effects, weld fatigue, and material endurance limits.
  • Applicants should be familiar with relevant codes, standards and certification requirements applicable to offshore structures.
  • Applicants should be proficient with Ansys Workbench, Mathcad and Autodesk packages.
