Project Planner - VR/32713
An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Project Planner / Scheduler to join an international energy business supporting major offshore development activity. This role would suit a planning professional with strong oil and gas project experience who enjoys working across multidisciplinary teams and providing clear visibility on project progress, schedule performance, key milestones and delivery risks.
Based in Aberdeen, the successful candidate will support the planning, scheduling and performance monitoring of offshore field development projects, working closely with project controls, engineering, drilling, wells, operations, contractors and suppliers across multiple locations.
Main duties and responsibilities
- Develop and maintain detailed project schedules using Primavera P6 and/or Microsoft Project
- Build integrated schedules covering engineering, drilling, subsea, topsides, QA/QC gates, contractor progress and key project milestones.
- Support field development planning activity, including concept selection, pre-FEED and FEED phases.
- Produce schedule forecasts, critical path analysis and progress reporting.
- Monitor progress against approved baselines and identify schedule variances.
- Facilitate planning workshops and schedule review meetings with internal teams and contractors.
- Assess schedule risks and support mitigation or recovery planning.
- Track project milestones, deliverables and key interfaces.
- Coordinate schedule inputs across engineering, operations, drilling, procurement and external contractors.
- Develop resource-loaded schedules and support manpower forecasting.
- Prepare weekly and monthly progress reports for project stakeholders and senior leadership.
- Ensure planning and scheduling processes align with project controls procedures and company governance requirements.
Applicants to this role require
- Proven experience as a Project Planner or Project Scheduler within the oil and gas industry.
- Experience supporting offshore projects, drilling campaigns, field developments or production operations.
- Strong understanding of project controls principles and scheduling methodologies.
- Experience developing and maintaining complex integrated schedules.
- Familiarity with EPC, EPCM or operator-led project environments.
- Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams and international stakeholders.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.
Preferred Experience
- Previous exposure to West African offshore operations.
- Experience supporting drilling and wells activity.
- Background in FPSO, subsea or offshore production projects.
- Knowledge of shutdowns, maintenance campaigns or brownfield modifications.
- Understanding of schedule risk analysis and schedule assurance processes.
Qualifications and Systems
- Degree, HND or equivalent qualification in Engineering, Project Management, Construction Management or a related discipline.
- Primavera P6 proficiency preferred.
- Advanced Microsoft Project and Excel skills essential.
- Project management qualifications such as APM, PMI or equivalent would be advantageous.
