Seeking a QHSE&S Manager for a globally recognised engineering and technology organisation developing cutting-edge solutions for the subsea, offshore survey, positioning, navigation and marine sectors. Working at the forefront of ocean technology, they deliver advanced sensor, hydroacoustic, autonomous and positioning systems supporting customers across energy, science, offshore operations and marine industries worldwide. This is a newly created, permanent staff position based in Aberdeenshire.

     

Following a recent business transformation and continued growth, an exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced QHSE&S Manager to establish and lead the QHSE function.

     

This is a highly visible role where you will work closely with site leadership, engineering teams and international stakeholders, helping to shape safety culture, strengthen governance and drive continuous improvement across the business.

     

The Role

As the senior QHSE representative for the UK, you will take ownership of health, safety, environmental, quality and security activities across the business. Acting as the key interface between local operations and the wider global QHSE Team, you'll support workshop operations, field service activities and engineering functions while ensuring compliance, risk management and operational excellence remain firmly embedded throughout the organisation.

     

Although this role currently operates as an individual contributor position, it will evolve to include responsibility for a small team as the function grows.

     

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing practical and strategic QHSE leadership across UK operations.
  • Promoting a positive safety culture and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Advising leadership teams on operational risk, compliance and governance matters.
  • Leading incident and near-miss investigations, including root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Managing and maintaining integrated management systems and assurance programmes.
  • Coordinating internal and external audits and certification activities.
  • Monitoring QHSE performance and provide meaningful reporting and analysis.
  • Supporting emergency response, business continuity and security activities.
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant UK legislation, company standards and industry best practice.
  • Partnering closely with engineering, workshop and field service teams to manage operational risks and drive improvements.
  • Acting as the UK focal point for engagement with the wider global QHSE organisation.

      

What we’re looking for:

  • Previous experience within engineering, offshore survey, subsea technology, marine technology, manufacturing or technical service environments.
  • Strong health and safety leadership experience within operational settings.
  • Experience supporting engineering, workshop, field service or maintenance operations.
  • Knowledge of UK health, safety and environmental legislation.
  • Experience managing audits, investigations, corrective actions and assurance programmes.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence at all levels.
  • A practical and solutions-focused approach to risk management and continuous improvement.
  • Experience working with ISO management systems and compliance frameworks.

     

Desirable

  • IOSH, IEMA, CQI or similar professional membership.
  • Lead Auditor or Internal Auditor qualification.
  • Experience with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001 and/or ISO 27001.
  • Experience using Synergi or a similar QHSE management platform.
  • Exposure to business continuity, sustainability or emergency response planning.
