QHSSE Advisor - VR/32312
An established organisation operating within the shipping and marine sector, supporting vessel operations and onshore facilities, is looking to recruit a Temporary QHSSE Advisor to join their QHSSE team on a PAYE contract basis. This is a 6 month temporary contract position based in Aberdeen offering hybrid working.
The successful candidate will be responsible for advising, monitoring, and supporting Quality, Health, Safety, Security and Environmental (QHSSE) activities as directed by management. The role reports directly to the Group QHSSE Manager and involves both onshore and vessel based interaction as required.
Key Responsibilities
- Attend vessels and onshore facilities as required.
- Deliver in house QHSSE training onshore and onboard vessels.
- Provide QHSSE coaching and instruction to seagoing and shore based personnel.
- Promote correct use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Support informal seminars and training workshops in conjunction with the wider QHSSE team.
- Assist management and vessel officers in areas of QHSSE responsibility.
- Undertake and facilitate internal and external QHSSE audits.
- Investigate and report accidents and incidents in line with company and legislative requirements.
- Monitor accident and dangerous occurrence reporting when directed.
- Gather, analyse and disseminate safety data and statistics.
- Promote the company QHSE Policy and inter departmental communication.
- Provide operational QHSSE cover when required.
- Support Emergency Response Team activities when required.
- Exercise “Stop the Job” authority where necessary.
- Carry out any other duties reasonably requested by management.
- Daily communication with management, vessel crews, operational and technical departments, and onshore divisions.
Qualifications, Experience & Attributes Required
- Knowledge of the shipping industry, associated systems and legislation.
- NEBOSH National General Certificate.
- Audit experience.
- Knowledge of PUWER, LOLER, RIDDOR, COSHH and associated onshore legislation.
- Excellent communication skills with strong report writing and investigation skills.
- Commitment to continuous improvement.
Contract Details
- Temporary contract: 6 months.
- PAYE basis.
- Hybrid working: 3 days office based / 2 days from home.
- Location: Aberdeen.
- Hours: 37.5 per week, with participation in a weekend rota.
