Quality Manager - VR/31905
A leading engineering and manufacturing organisation is seeking an experienced Quality Manager to oversee and continually enhance its Quality functions. This is a senior, corporate-level role responsible for driving Quality performance across the business, championing continuous improvement, and embedding robust quality processes throughout manufacturing operations. This is a full-time permanent staff role based in Aberdeen.
We are looking for a confident, influential leader with a strong manufacturing background, capable of managing and developing a team of QC Inspectors, Quality Coordinators and Quality Advisors. The ideal candidate will bring a balanced blend of QA and QC experience, along with the credibility to “hold their own” in challenging discussions, influence senior stakeholders, and guide the organisation toward best practice. While technical competence is essential, this role places a significant emphasis on leadership, mentorship and people development.
About the Role:
As Quality Manager, you will take full ownership of the organisation’s Integrated Management System, ensuring it meets relevant standards and supports operational excellence. You will lead the continuous improvement of quality systems, drive alignment with ISO 9001, and support compliance with wider quality and technical standards. Key duties include leading internal audit programmes, managing client and third-party audits, investigating non-conformance issues, ensuring corrective actions are implemented, and overseeing calibration and inspection activities. You will also provide Quality Management training and support across departments, ensuring teams understand and adopt quality expectations in their day-to-day activities.
This is a highly collaborative role involving close interaction with Production, Projects, Engineering, HSE, Supply Chain, and external clients. You will act as a key point of contact for quality matters, ensuring that quality requirements are understood, communicated, and delivered across all stages of manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leading and developing the Quality Team, providing coaching, mentoring and support to ensure high performance and capability across QA and QC functions.
- Driving continuous improvement of quality processes, systems and tools, ensuring alignment with applicable standards such as ISO 9001 and API Q1.
- Overseeing the Integrated Management System, ensuring changes are communicated and embedded across relevant stakeholders.
- Managing quality inspection activity, ensuring accurate and timely reporting to internal and external stakeholders.
- Investigating Customer Complaints and NCRs, identifying root causes and ensuring corrective actions are implemented to prevent recurrence.
- Leading internal audit programmes and participate in third-party and client audits.
- Conducting risk-based assessments (e.g., FMEA) to identify and mitigate potential process failures.
- Analysing Quality performance data, identify trends, and recommend improvement actions.
- Supporting client and project quality requirements, including tendering, pre-qualification and project meetings.
- Promoting collaboration, open communication and best practice sharing across the organisation.
Key Requirements:
- Strong background in a manufacturing environment – this is essential and central to the role.
- Blend of Quality Assurance and Quality Control experience.
- Proven leadership capability, including team management, coaching and mentoring.
- Experience managing and improving Quality Management Systems.
- Strong understanding of ISO 9001 and associated terminology.
- Experience in root-cause analysis, internal audits and risk-based quality methodologies (e.g., FMEA).
- Ability to interpret manufacturing drawings and technical standards.
- Confident communicator with the ability to challenge constructively while remaining personable, supportive and approachable.
What Makes This Role Stand Out:
This is more than a technical Quality position — it is an opportunity to lead a function, influence business culture, and shape how Quality is delivered and perceived across a complex manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will be a visible leader, a mentor to their team, and a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders, with a genuine opportunity to make a significant impact.
