Working within a multi-discipline technical team to design, qualify and commercialise a range of downhole completion technologies.

    

As a member of a small group of specialists, the primary focus is the mechanical component of new and developing systems. However, flexibility and initiative are also key elements of the role.  The R&D Workshop Technician will use their expertise to qualify new concepts to meet customer requirements, as the business requires.  The R&D Workshop Technician will perform prototype testing and provide technical support across the department, within the workshop and at client locations.   This role is key to delivering new product development.

             

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Performing workshop testing of design concepts and occasionally support offsite testing.
  • Ensuring that all workshop tasks are organized & controlled in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Operating the forklift as required.
  • Operating the gantry crane as required.
  • Assisting in any relevant engineering projects.

              

Qualifications

Essential:               Educated to standard/higher grade level.

Preferred:             A recognised apprenticeship in a mechanical discipline.

                

Experience / Skills / Knowledge

Essential:

  • Previous practical experience in a workshop environment.
  • Previous pressure testing experience.
  • Demonstrate an ability to operate in a safe manner to all applicable HSE policies, procedures, work instruction & risk assessments.
  • Demonstrate an ability to effectively utilize resources, and the ability to plan, control, and take responsibility for own work.
  • Demonstrate good communication skills, along with an ability to work in a team environment, as well as an ability to work unsupervised and exercise initiative to resolve potential problems.
  • Demonstrate excellent practical skills & knowledge.

 

            

Preferred:

  • Previous flow loop testing experience.
  • Experience in working within an operator driven R&D environment.
  • Oilfield experience in hands on applications.
  • Experience in the testing of downhole completion products.
