Senior Geologist (Quarrying) - VR/32092

Currently seeking an experienced Senior Geologist (Quarrying) on a permanent staff basis for a leading construction and civil engineering company based in Aberdeen. Although based out of the company’s Aberdeen office, this role will require site-based working at various quarries across Scotland. A fully expensed company car will be part of the benefits package and relocation assistance may be available for the right candidate.

     

The Senior Geologist will support existing quarrying operations and will assist with plans to develop new opportunities across Scotland.  This role involves a varied mix of fieldwork, technical design, and project support across both existing quarries and future development opportunities. 

      

The Senior Geologist will have the following main duties and responsibilities:

  • Prospecting for future quarry sites, undertaking desktop and field-based assessments.
  • Quarry development design and planning for existing operations and future development opportunities.
  • Managing the geological requirements of existing sand and gravel and hard rock quarries including the provision of resource assessments, quarry design plans and supporting site management teams.
  • Assisting with regulatory management and development of quarrying operations including planning applications and environmental permitting.

      

Experience/Qualifications:

  • A degree qualification in Geology, or a related Earth Science discipline, is essential.
  • Chartered Geologist status, or working towards full chartership, would be preferred.
  • Previous experience in a similar Geologist type role, directly within the quarrying/mining sector, is essential.
  • Applicants should have experience with aggregate quarrying.
  • Applicants should have experience using LSS, CAD or similar quarry design and modelling software.
