A leading energy company with a strong presence in the North Sea is seeking a Senior Process Engineer to join its Engineering Department, based onshore in Aberdeen. This is a temporary PAYE contract position, expected to last 12 months.

     

This position provides process engineering support across the full project lifecycle, including studies, FEED, and Detailed Design. The successful candidate will ensure the delivery of high-quality engineering solutions that meet the requirements of the assets, while supporting safe, compliant, and efficient operations.

          

Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting lifecycle technical integrity and operational risk management for offshore installations within the process discipline.
  • Preparing and developing core engineering documentation such as P&IDs, Basis of Design, Line Lists, Locked Valve Registers, and Operating Manuals.
  • Undertaking and reviewing process design work, supporting other engineering disciplines where required.
  • Contributing to safety assessments and technical reviews including SIL, HAZID, HAZOP, ENVID, and Alarm Management.
  • Ensuring compliance with company management systems, statutory requirements, and industry codes and standards.
  • Participating in technical meetings and liaising effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Maintaining technical integrity and ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.

         

Requirements

 

Essential:

  • Degree (or equivalent) in Chemical Engineering.
  • Strong knowledge of offshore installations and topsides process/utility systems.
  • Proven understanding of engineering codes, process safety, and asset integrity management.
  • Experience with hazard identification, risk assessments, and MOC processes.
  • Familiarity with UKCS legislation and offshore regulatory frameworks.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across teams.

       

Preferred:

  • Chartered Engineer status (or actively working towards it).
  • Experience with FEED, Detailed Design, and Decommissioning Support projects in the UKCS.
  • Current offshore medical and survival certification.

        

Additional Information

  • Scope: Covers topsides process and utility systems (excluding subsea and drilling systems).
  • Working Pattern: The company operates a Compressed Working Week (CWW), allowing 75 hours over 9 working days with every second Friday off (“Flex Friday”).
  • Offshore Travel: Some travel offshore may be required.
