Shipping Coordinator - VR/32240
A 12-month contract coordinating import and export shipments within a global engineering and manufacturing environment, ensuring the safe, compliant and timely delivery of products and materials. Focused on freight coordination, documentation and stakeholder engagement, the role supports customer shipment plans while maintaining cost control, efficiency and adherence to international trade regulations. Office-based, with flexible start and finish times.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinating import and export shipments, obtaining freight quotations and preparing all required documentation.
- Liaising with customers and freight agents to organise collections in accordance with FCA Incoterms.
- Preparing accurate shipping documentation, including commercial invoices and shipping orders.
- Ensuring all import and export activities comply with HMRC regulations and internal procedures.
- Adhering to international trade compliance requirements and applicable customs regimes.
- Liaising with brokerage teams to ensure appropriate customs classifications and documentation.
- Coordinating with sales, production, procurement and warehouse teams to facilitate timely deliveries.
- Monitoring shipment progress, manage tracking requests and resolve delivery or quality issues.
- Maintaining accurate shipping registers and ensuring documentation is filed and archived appropriately.
- Updating production schedules and keeping stakeholders informed of collections and deliveries.
- Assisting with internal and external audits and inspections.
- Supporting continuous improvement initiatives and undertake additional duties as required.
About You:
- Solid knowledge of import and export procedures, including customs regulations and Incoterms 2020.
- Experience coordinating international shipments via sea, air and road transport.
- Familiarity with shipping documentation such as CIPL, BOL, AWB, CMR and MRN.
- Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Effective communicator, able to collaborate across departments and with customers.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint.
- HND in a relevant business discipline or equivalent experience.
- Dangerous goods or logistics qualifications (e.g. CILT, IATA, IMDG or ADR) are advantageous.
