Opportunity for an experienced Software Tester to support the development and delivery of software applications within safety-related air traffic control environments. Working across integration and system testing, you’ll develop and execute manual and automated tests, troubleshoot issues and help drive increased test automation across a variety of technical projects.

MM Aviation is seeking an experienced Software Tester to join a small technical team supporting the delivery of software applications into safety-related air traffic control environments.

Working across a variety of new projects, you will be responsible for integration and system testing, from reviewing requirements and developing test strategies through to executing tests, documenting defects and supporting issue resolution.

Testing will initially have a strong manual element, although a key focus will be increasing automation wherever practical. This therefore offers an excellent opportunity for someone who can bring solid software testing fundamentals while helping shape and develop automated testing capability.

Main duties and responsibilities

  • Review system specifications and requirements to identify appropriate testing requirements and approaches.
  • Work closely with the Test Manager to develop effective test strategies, plans and test cases.
  • Design, develop and execute manual and automated tests, analysing and documenting results.
  • Identify, investigate and clearly document software defects and technical issues.
  • Develop and maintain regression testing plans while supporting the progression towards increased test automation.
  • Collaborate with development teams, project colleagues and clients to maintain software quality throughout the development lifecycle.

Applicants to this role require

  • Proven experience as a Software Tester, QA Tester or within a similar software quality role.
  • Good understanding of software testing methodologies, including validation and regression testing.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to document, troubleshoot and communicate software issues clearly.
  • Working knowledge of test management software and tools.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills, with the ability to work independently and within a collaborative technical team.
  • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Experience of automated testing and/or an ISTQB qualification would be advantageous.
