Surface Wellheads Specialist / Technician - VR/32109

Status: Permanent
Location: Aberdeen
Rate: Available Upon Request

Are you looking to combine onshore and offshore working, but perhaps decrease the number of days you are working away and spend more time at home? Are you looking to progress more into an engineering office-based environment, with some hands-on workshop duties as required? If so, this may be the opportunity for you. Our client is looking for a Technician who will predominantly be onshore based (both office and workshop), but with an expectation for around 30-60 ad hoc offshore days per annum. As such, the candidate must still be willing to go offshore from time to time when required. They must also come from a strong surface wellheads and well integrity/well intervention background in order to be considered.

Job Description:

We are looking for candidates with surface wellhead experience (platform or land-based wells), rather than a subsea-focused background, with experience on surface wellheads and topside systems, so hands-on experience in that environment is essential.

Key experience includes:

  • Practical experience working on surface wellheads/Christmas trees.
  • Exposure to topside intervention, repair or integrity work.
  • Backgrounds aligned to platform or land well operations.

Role Purpose:

The role is the company’s primary technical resource for supporting well integrity and leak sealing operations, primarily on surface wells and wellhead systems (platform and land wells). While the role is the first choice for deployment to client sites when required, including mobilising at short notice or with minimal notice, it is predominantly office-based and focused on engineering support activities such as procedure writing, job planning, and technical preparation. The role also includes occasional workshop duties and close collaboration with internal teams and clients to ensure safe, high-quality and successful project delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

Operational/Field:

  • Deliver services safely and professionally on client assets and premises.
  • Diagnose issues on client wellheads, trees and downhole and support development of practical solutions.
  • Deploy products and tooling in line with procedures and job programmes.
  • Mobilise for onshore and offshore work in the UK and internationally, including at short notice or with minimal notice.
  • Maintain equipment on site and ensure a professional standard at all times.
  • Complete daily operational reporting and support permit and toolbox talk requirements.
  • Provide on-site support and, where required, training to third-party personnel.

Technical/Office Support:

  • Assist with preparation of job procedures using client data and internal knowledge.
  • Read and interpret technical drawings (wellheads, valves, downhole, internal seal structures).
  • Support preparation of technical documentation and presentations.
  • Contribute feedback from operations to support continuous improvement.

Health, Safety & Behaviour:

  • Work in full compliance with company and client safety, environmental and quality standards.
  • Promote safe working practices and a positive safety culture at all times.

Person Specification:

Essential:

  • Experience with surface wellheads, christmas trees and topside valve/sealing systems (platform or land wells).
  • Previous offshore experience and valid offshore certification.
  • Hands-on technical or engineering background (oil and gas or related industry).
  • Willingness and ability to mobilise to client sites onshore and offshore, including travel and at short notice or with minimal notice.
  • Strong safety awareness and disciplined approach to procedures.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work well in a small team.
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Office for reporting and documentation.

Desirable:

  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.

Personal Attributes:

  • Practical, reliable, and proactive.
  • Calm under pressure and adaptable in the field.
  • Professional attitude with clients and colleagues.
  • Keen to learn and develop technical capability.
