We're looking for an experienced, time-served Welder/Fabricator to take the next step in their career and join our Workshop Leadership Team. This is a hands-on role where you'll combine your technical expertise with mentoring, coaching and day-to-day workshop support. Working alongside the existing Workshop Team Lead, you'll help ensure work is completed safely, efficiently and to the highest quality standards while supporting the development of the wider Fabrication and Welding Team.

As Workshop Team Lead, you'll be a trusted point of contact for Welders and Fabricators across the workshop, providing practical guidance, technical support and leadership throughout the production process.

Working closely with the Project Delivery Manager and QA/QC Team, you'll help maintain high standards of workmanship, support employee development and ensure projects are delivered safely, on time and to specification.

Overview job description:

  • Providing day-to-day support and guidance to workshop employees.
  • Delivering on-the-job coaching, training and competency development.
  • Supporting fabrication and welding activities to maintain productivity and quality.
  • Assisting with workload planning, job prioritisation and resource allocation.
  • Working closely with QA/QC personnel to ensure compliance with specifications and quality standards.
  • Supporting inspections and assisting with the resolution of NCRs.
  • Promoting a right-first-time culture across the workshop.
  • Monitoring workflow and helping ensure production deadlines are achieved.
  • Conducting return-to-work discussions and associated documentation.
  • Supporting attendance, timekeeping and employee welfare matters.
  • Providing constructive coaching and feedback to address performance or conduct concerns.
  • Helping maintain a safe, organised and productive working environment.

Applicants to this role require:

  • Time-served Welder/Fabricator qualifications with strong practical workshop experience.
  • Excellent fabrication and welding knowledge across a range of techniques and materials.
  • Previous experience coaching, mentoring or supporting colleagues within a manufacturing or workshop environment.
  • Good understanding of welding standards, quality requirements and QA/QC processes.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A proactive and practical approach to problem solving.
  • The ability to lead by example and encourage high standards of workmanship.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.

While previous supervisory experience would be advantageous, we're equally interested in experienced welders who naturally support and develop others and are ready for a leadership role.
